We use design thinking principles to help teams challenge the status quo and provoke the development of creative and effective solutions to the problems they face.

Whether we're looking at an innovation project or change initiative, the fundamental challenge is essentially the same - to solve problems in a way that creates value for all stakeholders. Our approach is therefore heavily grounded in the principles of Design Thinking - a process that helps teams to understand users, challenge assumptions, redefine problems and create innovative solutions. Based on this, we have a developed the following three stage process;
The first step is always to better understand the nature of the problem through detailed analysis, to answer the question 'what problem are you really trying to solve?'. The majority of unsuccessful innovation efforts fail because they address the symptom of a problem, rather than solve its underlying root causes.
This is followed by research to gain empathy with the needs of the end-user, understanding what they are looking to achieve and the challenges they face in doing so. These insights help us to understand the context in which we are working and see the issues from a different perspective, exposing opportunities to solve problems more effectively.
The final step involves encouraging greater creativity in the design of solutions, empowering teams with the tools and confidence to experiment with new ideas and develop potentially game changing solutions. We then identify how to test the assumptions these ideas are based on so that they can be de-risked before implementation.

Successful innovation and change is about more than just the quality of the ideas developed, it relies on effective engagement with people to ensure that those ideas are successfully understood and implemented in practice. Our approach is therefore highly collaborative, using workshops to ensure input from a wide range of sources and create a greater sense of ownership of the resulting solutions.
Outside of workshops we provide coaching to leaders and teams to keep them on track and avoid the pitfalls of implementation, even leading oversight of the process if necessary. Prior to engagements we also undertake research to clarify the nature of problems and understand the contributing factors, so that we can start to challenge preconceptions and enable teams to adopt different perspectives.
Every engagement we work on is different, but all are united by a need from our clients to overcome complex problems and respond to challenges where conventional solutions either have not or will not work. Our approach ensures that we explore problems fully to identify their underlying causes and encourage the development of more effective solutions whilst ensuring they are adopted by the wider organisation.
